Dmitri Martini of Immanuel Christian ran for the longest rushing play in Hi-Lo (8 Man) this season against Lone Pine last week. Martini's team lost to the Golden Eagles as he sprinted for 75 yards on the play and finished with 99 in all.
Trona took down Big Pine 44-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lone Pine's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mike Cappello threw for 102 and two touchdowns and Alec Garcia had 54 yards receiving. On the ground Doug Moore chipped in 109 yards. Moore helped Lone Pine's passing attack out by catching two balls for 48 yards.
Jay Simson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Immanuel Christian fell to Chris Riesen's team. The 5-foot-4 junior recorded two fumbles.
The Golden Eagles' Cappello and Garcia have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Cappello has thrown for 955 yards this season, while Garcia, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 39 catches for 425 yards. Aaron Gage's team's Simson leads the league in rushing yards with 515.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Warriors take on the Crusaders. Big Pine is currently in fourth, while Immanuel Christian is in third.
Lone Pine led Hi-Lo (8 Man) in scoring this week after putting up 53 points on the Crusaders. Cappello ran for 37 yards in the win.
