The William Floyd Colonials waltzed into Tuesday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past West Babylon with points to spare, taking the game 40-25. The score was all tied up 13-13 at the break, but William Floyd was the (much) better team in the second half.
Among those leading the charge was Kayla Gilmore, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of William Floyd's points. Chloe Campbell was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 15 rebounds and 4 blocks.
West Babylon's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Avery Vergano, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Maucere, who scored 5 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
William Floyd's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for West Babylon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
William Floyd will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sachem North at 4:00 p.m. West Babylon will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Rockaway at 12:00 p.m. on December 27th.
