On Wednesday, Gates Chili suffered a tough 76-53 loss at the hands of Penfield. While losing is never fun, Gates Chili can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 577th, while Penfield is ranked 17th).
Despite the loss, Gates Chili saw an underclassman step up: Joey Vigerzi scored 20 points along with two steals. Vigerzi has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Tantalo, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Webster Schroeder unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Wednesday. They fell 57-50 to Hilton.
Gates Chili's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-13. As for Webster Schroeder, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
