North Providence dropped their record down to 10-2 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell  6-2 to the Smithfield Sentinels. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sentinels apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in May of 2017.
 North Providence saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Jayden Allard, who  went 1-for-3 with one  run.
As for Smithfield, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with the  win, which was their fourth straight  at home. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.
On Smithfield's side, they got a great performance from  Dom Lombardi as he  struck out seven batters over  6.2 innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   five  hits.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Jayden Argenti, who  went 2-for-3 with four  RBI and one  triple. Those  two  hits gave  him a new career-high.  Sean Dwyer was another key player,  getting on base  in two of his four plate appearances with two  stolen bases and one  run.
 Looking ahead, North Providence will venture away from home to  challenge Narragansett  at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Cougars are facing the Mariners at the right time seeing as the Mariners are stuck on  a  three-game losing streak. As for Smithfield, they will be playing at home against South Kingstown  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
