Softball Recap: Oak Harbor Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Oak Harbor never got on the board in their matchup last Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Perkins on Thursday. They blew past the Pirates 15-1. Considering the Rockets have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Morgan Lalonde made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Lalonde was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Oak Harbor got a massive performance out of Allie Giezie, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI. That's the most hits Giezie has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Schimmoeller, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Oak Harbor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perkins only posted an OBP of .250.

Oak Harbor pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Perkins, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Oak Harbor has already played their next match, a 9-2 victory against Genoa Area on the 11th. As for Perkins, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-6 win against Sandusky on the 11th.
