Mojave and Sunrise Mountain are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Mojave Rattlers will head out on the road to face off against the Sunrise Mountain Miners at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mojave is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Mojave suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Del Sol, falling 71-36.
Despite the defeat, Mojave had strong showings from Zeryah Stokes, who scored no points along with four steals, and Azzareya Huerta, who scored no points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain struggled with assists on Wednesday (Del Sol had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sunrise Mountain lost to Del Sol at home by a decisive 56-41 margin. Sunrise Mountain has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Sunrise Mountain saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Delyla Ross, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Ross has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Giselle Serrano almeida was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Mojave has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Sunrise Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
Mojave came up short against Sunrise Mountain when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 45-32. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ross, who dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 16 rebounds, and 15 steals.
