Baseball Recap: West Catholic Wins Going Away Against Wyoming

West Catholic barely beat Wyoming the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Wolves on Monday. Considering the Falcons have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

West Catholic got a great performance from Elliott Plum as he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave Plum a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Holt, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Britenfeld, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for West Catholic and bumps their season record up to 17-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Wyoming, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.

West Catholic will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolves: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
