College Achieve has been on the road for seven straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Weequahic Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Sunday, College Achieve lost to Montgomery on the road by a decisive 78-62 margin. While losing is never fun, College Achieve can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Montgomery is ranked ninth).
Even though Weequahic has not done well against Montclair Kimberley Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Weequahic put the hurt on Montclair Kimberley Academy with a sharp 57-36 win. The victory was just what Weequahic needed coming off of a 61-15 defeat in their prior matchup.
Weequahic relied on the efforts of Hekeimu Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Tyhir Barlow, who scored 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barlow has scored all season. Tasir Barnes was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
College Achieve's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for Weequahic, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
