For the first time this season, Canyon Lake will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to square off against the Wimberley Texans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Canyon Lake took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Gonzales with a sharp 27-4 victory. Canyon Lake hasn't had any issues with Gonzales recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Ryder Hopper made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Williams, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Wayen Slanina-Wertz, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles.
Canyon Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .721. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wimberley came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Bulldogs.
Like Canyon Lake, Wimberley also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaden Hall. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hall has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Wimberley got a great performance from Jayden Gamez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched.
Back at the plate, Bryson Anderson was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances. Wyatt Yeatter also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Canyon Lake's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Wimberley, their record now sits at 8-3-1.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Canyon Lake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Wimberley struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Canyon Lake couldn't quite get it done against Wimberley when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can Canyon Lake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
