Governor Mifflin hasn't had much luck against Twin Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mustangs will welcome the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Governor Mifflin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Reading 15-7 on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Samantha Wagner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Reilly Martin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Abbigail Brunelli, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Governor Mifflin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Twin Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Exeter Township on Monday, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since June 2, 2025.
Twin Valley also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Maggie Stoltzfus gave up three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Ella Herbst was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Emma Hahn was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Twin Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Governor Mifflin, the win was their first at home, bumping their record up to 2-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Governor Mifflin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Twin Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Governor Mifflin suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Twin Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
