The Mayfair Monsoons had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victor by a 45-21 margin over Chino. The result was nothing new for Mayfair, who have now won four matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Leading Mayfair to victory were Chaz Gilbreath and Jeremiah Calvin. Gilbreath picked up 170 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Calvin threw for 284 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes. Gilbreath was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 68 yards. Louis Johnson also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Loss or not, Chino got some senior leadership from Nathan Blanco who rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry and Diego Ogata who rushed for 169 yards while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Blanco is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played.
The victory (which was Mayfair's third in a row) raised their record to 9-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.3 points per game. As for Chino, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1.
Mayfair does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Chino also has no future games currently scheduled.
