Softball Recap: Mabel-Canton Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

Mabel-Canton never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Spring Grove on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Lions. Considering the Cougars have won 11 matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Tylar Wenthold, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Spring Grove off the board. Wenthold has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kailey Ingvalson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kira Snyder, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Mabel-Canton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Grove struck out 11 times.

Mabel-Canton has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Spring Grove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mabel-Canton will challenge Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Spring Grove, they will square off against Goodhue at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.92 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
