Keller is 0-7 against Southlake Carroll since September of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Indians will venture away from home to take on the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Keller took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 38-29 victory over Keller Central. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Indians' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Chargers are ranked 311th).

David Makia and Brock Burkett were among the main playmakers for Keller as the former rushed for 122 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry and the latter rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Meanwhile, Southlake Carroll strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 55-13 win over Timber Creek. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-0.
Keller better keep an eye on Angelo Renda. He was instrumental in Southlake Carroll's win, throwing for 241 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. Renda is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Davis Penn was another key back, rushing for 72 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Southlake Carroll's defense and their 4.5 sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up 0.5 apiece ( Jackson Oakley, Jake Lucky, Kaden Hodges, Vaughn Adams, and Robbie Ladd also recorded half a sack). Taevin Kunz got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Keller now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Southlake Carroll, their record is now 5-0.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Burkett and Renda. Burkett just won't slow down this season and has thrown 7 touchdowns while averaging 157 passing yards per game. Renda has been a dominant force too and has thrown 15 touchdowns (and and only 3 pick) while averaging 280.8 passing yards per game.
Keller took a serious blow against Southlake Carroll in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 52-21. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
