5A Region III District 21 recap Oct. 30, 2012
North Shore extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region III District 21 this week by beating West Brook, 34-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Mustangs.
The Bruins moved up to 401 from 434 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. West Brook climbed the ranks as a result of losing to North Shore 34-7.
North Shore's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Micah Thomas has thrown for 849 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Kevian DeLeon has 12 catches for 371 yards. Thomas also leads the league in rushing with 734 yards.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when La Porte and David Aymond's team meet this week. The Bulldogs features well-regarded junior Hoza Scott while the Mustangs has Zach Whitley, a sought after junior.
A big matchup in 5A Region III District 21 this week will be when La Porte takes on North Shore. Jeff Lareau's team is currently in third, while the Mustangs are in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Bulldogs take on North Shore. La Porte has allowed 104 points this season, while the Mustangs have given up 102. The Bulldogs allowed 7 points last week as they beat Channelview.
The Falcons made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,057 from 9,451. The improvement was the result of 42-7 victory over Channelview last week.
