Prairie hasn't had much luck against Otis recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mustangs will head out to square off against the Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Prairie and Weldon Valley, and Prairie kept the tradition alive. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Warriors on Friday. That 16-run margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.
Riar Holloway was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hunter Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Prairie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weldon Valley only posted an OBP of .267.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Friday. Otis put the hurt on Peetz with a sharp 23-12 win. The result was nothing new for Otis, who have now won four contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Gavin Price was a standout: he went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitchell Stivers, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.
Prairie pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Otis, their record is now 5-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Prairie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .423. However, it's not like Otis struggles in that department as they've averaged .465. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Prairie might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Otis when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
