Keslie Draney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Aniston Norton and Mary Severe did most of the damage at the plate: Norton went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Severe went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Grace Norman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Pleasant Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Bingham waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Silverwolves.
Bingham also got a great performance from Kendra Hintze as she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Bingham let Jenna Thomas and Kava Haiola run wild. Thomas went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Haiola went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Thomas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Fogg, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Pleasant Grove pushed their record up to 23-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bingham, their record now sits at 19-8-2.
Pleasant Grove's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bingham, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Pleasant Grove continue to outrun the ball?
Pleasant Grove suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Bingham in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
