The Habersham School waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They secured a 47-41 W over the Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hurricanes, too.
The Habersham School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Myla Shippy, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. Shippy has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Maddie Viles was another key player, putting up 11 points along with eight boards and three steals.
The Habersham School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.
Coastal HomeSchool lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Annabel Sanchez, who posted 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Sanchez has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rae HeidtHarris, who had 11 points and three blocks.
The Habersham School is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Coastal HomeSchool, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.
The Habersham School has already played their next game, a 42-32 loss against St. Andrew's on the 30th. As for Coastal HomeSchool, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bible Baptist Christian at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Bible Baptist Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
