The Harding Raiders struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Austintown-Fitch Falcons had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Harding had to suffer through a rough 51-16 loss at the hands of Austintown-Fitch. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Harding has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Harding lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nadia Mcqueen. Despite the final result, she scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Austintown-Fitch found their leader in underclassman Kylie Folkwein, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Folkwein continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Destanie Mccullough was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Harding's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-5. As for Austintown-Fitch, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harding will take on Ursuline at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Ursuline is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Austintown-Fitch, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Canfield at 2:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Canfield is ranked 122nd, while Austintown-Fitch is ranked 128th).
