Florence is 0-3 against Lampasas since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Florence Buffaloes will be home for the holidays to greet the Lampasas Badgers at 6:15 p.m. Florence is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
Last Tuesday, Florence was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-36 to Schulenburg.
Despite the defeat, Florence saw an underclassman step up: Emerson Herring scored 21 points. Herring scored a full 58.3% of Florence's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Laney Ellis, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Lampasas' 26-12 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They suffered a tough 59-37 defeat at the hands of Salado on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lampasas in their matchups with Salado: they've now lost five in a row.
Florence's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Lampasas, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Florence took a serious blow against Lampasas when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 74-24. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Florence was down 47-13.
