The William Campbell Generals will head out on the road to face off against the Nelson County Governors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Thursday, William Campbell came up short against the Hilltoppers and fell 47-36. While losing is never fun, William Campbell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 102nd).
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Nelson County, who are still winless after their 16th game. They took a 40-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dan River on Friday.
This is the second loss in a row for William Campbell and nudges their season record down to 6-9. As for Nelson County, they dropped their record down to 0-16 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for William Campbell against the Governors in their previous matchup last Friday as the squad secured a 72-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for William Campbell since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
