After both having extra time off, the Legacy Prep Christian Academy Lions and the Concordia Lutheran Crusaders will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Legacy Prep Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Friday. They breezed by Alpha Omega Academy at home to the tune of 77-11. With that win, Legacy Prep Christian Academy brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.
Legacy Prep Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Molly Steed, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals, and Charlotte Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Steed's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Carr, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Concordia Lutheran had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it eight last Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 49-18 win over Salt and Light Homeschool. Given Concordia Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Salt and Light Homeschool is ranked 923rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Legacy Prep Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Concordia Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Legacy Prep Christian Academy couldn't quite finish off Concordia Lutheran when the teams last played back in November and fell 39-36. Can Legacy Prep Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
