The Wendover Wildcats won the last time they faced the Manila Mustangs, and things went their way on Saturday too. Wendover managed a 44-38 victory over Manila. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wendover.
Wendover found their leader in underclassman Millie Hicks, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hicks has scored at least a third of Wendover's points. Another player making a difference was Gaby Delgadillo, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Wendover pushed their record up to 16-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Manila, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wendover will take on Rich at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Rich will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Wendover surely won't give up without a fight. As for Manila, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Altamont at 5:00 p.m. Manila is facing Altamont at the right time seeing as Altamont is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
