The Teaneck Highwaymen will head out to face off against the Dumont Huskies at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Teaneck is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Fair Lawn hit Teaneck with a four-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Highwaymen took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cutters. The loss continues a trend for the Highwaymen in their meetings with the Cutters: they've now lost seven in a row.
Jayden Castro put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Castro was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, Jack Daniels was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dumont ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past NV - Demarest 7-6. The game was the first time the Huskies have beaten the Norsemen on their field since April 18, 2019.
Chase Orso was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dylan Mendez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Dumont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
Dumont's record is now 5-7-1. As for Teaneck, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Teaneck has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dumont struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Teaneck came up short against Dumont in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, falling 11-8. Can the Highwaymen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
