Old Forge has gone a perfect 3-0 against Lackawanna Trail recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 12:00 p.m.
Old Forge fell victim to Mid Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 10-0. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Old Forge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elio Castaldi, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lackawanna Trail, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They never let Susquehanna get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Sabers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Michael Palmer, who gave up just a hit to keep Susquehanna off the board.
On the hitting side, Sean Dywer and William Evans did most of the damage at the plate: Dywer went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Evans went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Patterson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Lackawanna Trail always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Susquehanna only posted an OBP of .158.
Lackawanna Trail's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Old Forge, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Old Forge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lackawanna Trail struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Old Forge was able to grind out a solid victory over Lackawanna Trail when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 6-2. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
