The Hancock Hawks will head out to square off against the Gautier Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hancock has given up an average of 34.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-28, which was the final score in Hancock's tilt against Picayune on Friday. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Maroon Tide recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Hancock got top-tier performance from Kaison Koenenn, who threw for 294 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 92 yards and one score. The Hawks also got help from Bryson Thompson, who showed off his sure hands for 104 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Gautier didn't have quite enough to beat Pearl River Central on Friday and fell 17-14. The matchup marked the Gators' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Hancock will have to contain Kasin Thomas as he made an impact in Gautier's last game. He picked up 130 receiving yards and one touchdown. Thomas was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 60 yards.
While Gautier came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Pearl River Central: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 42.1%. The team can thank Kyshun Carter for the heroic effort on defense: he. Gautier wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 65.8%.
Hancock's record is now 2-5. As for Gautier, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Hancock has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 203.3 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Gautier, though, as they've been averaging only 97.4 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Hancock might still be hurting after the 35-14 loss they got from Gautier when the teams last played back in September of 2020. Thankfully for the Hawks, Kaden Irving (who threw for 459 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt, and also punched in one rushing score) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
