Eastern Alamance pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their tough 77-56 defeat to Western Alamance might stick with them for a while. Eastern Alamance has not had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their loss, Eastern Alamance saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nicole Hester, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hester has scored all season. Makayla Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, everything went Williams' way against the Panthers on Tuesday as the Bulldogs made off with a 59-39 victory.
Williams' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordyn Taylor led the charge by scoring 11 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Regan Averett, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Eastern Alamance's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8. As for Williams, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Eastern Alamance have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 39.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Williams struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
