It was a perfect week for the MaxPreps power rankings: not a single team changed position in spite of last week's action. Among the action were the efforts of Pelahatchie's senior Javeious Purvis, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Even though Pelahatchie was bested by Bay Springs 49 - 43 last week, Pelahatchie's senior Javeious Purvis played one heck of a game. He threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns. That performance made Purvis one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
A
It was a battle of top-notch squads when Warren Central (22nd in the MaxPreps state rankings) took on Horn Lake (3rd) last week. Warren Central wasn't able to scrape together any points, falling to Horn Lake 19 - 0. The fight Warren Central demonstrated in its 34 - 13 win the game before seemed replaced by lethargy in this one.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Madison Central (3rd in the power rankings) and Northwest Rankin (1st). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
