Valley Forge Military Academy is 0-8 against Dock Mennonite since May of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:45 p.m. Valley Forge Military Academy has given up an average of 17 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Valley Forge Military Academy is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game dating back to last season last Tuesday. They came up short against Plumstead Christian, falling 19-3. On the bright side, the three- run effort marked the Trojans' highest-scoring match to date.
Meanwhile, Dock Mennonite had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six last Tuesday. They never let the Drakes get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Pioneers this season.
James Steinmetz was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Steinmetz was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Dock Mennonite got a massive performance out of Jasiah Stachelek, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Stachelek is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Luke Burleigh was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Dock Mennonite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Dock Mennonite's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Valley Forge Military Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Valley Forge Military Academy suffered a grim 22-0 defeat to Dock Mennonite when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
