On Thursday, the Reed-Custer Comets's game was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 47-34 win over Somonauk/Leland. That's another feather in the cap for Reed-Custer, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Reed-Custer had a senior duo take command as Mya Beard scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals and Kaylee Tribble dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Tribble has scored at least 25% of Reed-Custer's points. Another player making a difference was Gwen Stewart, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Reed-Custer is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Somonauk/Leland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Reed-Custer will head out on the road to face off against Hinckley-Big Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Somonauk/Leland will be home for the holidays to greet Dakota at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
