Basketball Recap: Evergreen Christian Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

There's no place like home for Evergreen Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They snuck past the New Hope Academy National Tigers with a 72-66 victory on Saturday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 64-57 back in January.

Evergreen Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Britt, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Jafet Valencia was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 15 boards.

Evergreen Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

New Hope Academy National's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Haki Muhammed II, who went 12 for 22 en route to 30 points, and Isrial Braxton, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds. Muhammed II's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ricky Payton III, who posted six points.

Evergreen Christian's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 19-11. As for New Hope Academy National, they dropped their record down to 14-17 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Riverdale Baptist the next time they take the court. Evergreen Christian will host Riverdale Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while New Hope Academy National will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
