Baseball Recap: Timnath Comes Up Short

After soaring to 19 runs the game before, Timnath was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They fell just short of the Berthoud Spartans by a score of 4-2. The Cubs haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Colton Mitchell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Timnath saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drake Jenkins, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Jenkins' first of the season.

Timnath now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Berthoud, they pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

While Timnath had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
