Dunsmuir is 2-8 against the Bulldogs since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Dunsmuir Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Butte Valley Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Dunsmuir is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Dunsmuir was handed a 35-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against the Hornets on Friday. Dunsmuir had just enough and edged the Hornets out 57-54. The victory was just what Dunsmuir needed coming off of a 69-34 loss in their prior contest.
Michael Kellar was his usual excellent self, scoring 35 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Dunsmuir's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Desean Pistorius, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 24 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Butte Valley waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. Everything went their way against Bethel Christian as Butte Valley made off with a 56-36 win. The score was close at the half, but Butte Valley pulled away in the second half with 32 points.
Dunsmuir's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-17. As for Butte Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Dunsmuir was dealt a bruising 67-37 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs when the teams last played back in January. Can Dunsmuir avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
