Mission recap Sept. 26, 2012
Cathedral extended the longest winning streak in Mission this week by beating Cantwell-Sacred Heart, 53-14. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Cathedral was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to first in the league. Kevin Pearson's team beat the Cardinals 53-14 earlier in the week.
Harvard-Westlake's dynamic duo of Chad Kanoff and Clinton Hooks proved tough for El Camino Real to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kanoff threw for 308 yards and four touchdowns and Hooks had 127 yards receiving. Chris Sebastian helped Harvard-Westlake's passing attack out by catching five balls for 114 yards.
Marques Rodgers was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 86 yards on 13 carries as Serra defeated the Conquistadors. Malik Roberson also contributed to the rushing game with 74 yards on the ground.
Jalen Greene provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Cavaliers fell to Narbonne. He completed 26 passes for 302 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 42 yards. Greene's favorite target this week was Gregory Webb, who caught four passes for 69 yards.
Harvard-Westlake's Kanoff and Sebastian have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Mission in both passing and receiving yards. Kanoff has thrown for 1592 yards this season, while Sebastian, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 22 catches for 487 yards. Terrell Newby from Chaminade leads the league in rushing with 690 yards.
Scot Ruggles's team took down El Camino Real 56-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kanoff ran for 26 yards in the win.
