Even though the Liberty Leopards scored an imposing 65 points on Friday, the Champion Golden Flashes still came out on top. Champion managed a 70-65 win over Liberty. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Champion.
Champion was led to victory by Christian Williams and Marky Nolan. Williams scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Nolan scored 29 points along with six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Nolan has scored at least a third of Champion's points. Carson Fife was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Champion pushed their record up to 6-7 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.
Champion will head out on the road to challenge Newton Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newton Falls is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games. As for Liberty, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Memorial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Tuesday.
