Thunder Ridge is 8-1 against the Mustangs since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Thunder Ridge Longhorns will head out on the road to take on the Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Hopefully Thunder Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday.
Thunder Ridge might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 78-46 to the Blujays, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. It was the first time this season that Thunder Ridge let down their fans at home.
The losing side was boosted by Kamryn Rietzke, who scored 19 points. That was a full 41.3% of Thunder Ridge's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jennifer Cochrun, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Sylvan-Lucas entered their tilt with the Grizzlies with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Sylvan-Lucas breezed by the Grizzlies on the road to the tune of 48-17 on Tuesday. Sylvan-Lucas has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 31 points or more this season.
Thunder Ridge's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-4. As for Sylvan-Lucas, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
Thunder Ridge didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Mustangs in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 54-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thunder Ridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
