Redington is 0-3 against Palmer since May of 2024 but things could change on Wednesday. The Huskies will take on the Moose at 5:30 p.m. Redington has given up an average of 17.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Redington is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 20th straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 14-6 to Homer, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Surprisingly, this marked the Huskies' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Redington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashlynn Warner, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Warner has snagged this season.
Meanwhile, Palmer faced Houston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Moose narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Hawks 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Moose have posted against the Hawks since April 15, 2022.
Laekyn Leroux was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Palmer let Olivia Del Bianco and Lizzy McQuillin run wild. Del Bianco went 2-for-3 with one home run and one triple, while McQuillin went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave McQuillin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylei Doyle, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Palmer pushed their record up to 5-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Redington, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
Redington suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to Palmer in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
