Liberty is 8-2 against Iowa City since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Friday. The Liberty Lightning will look to defend their home court  against the Iowa City Little Hawks at 7:30  p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Liberty and ten for Iowa City.
 Liberty pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow  as they fell  75-56 to Linn-Mar. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings  (they are ranked 142nd, while Linn-Mar is ranked 29th).
 Liberty's  defeat came about despite a quality game from  Cooper Webb, who  scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was  Trey Hughes, who  scored 13 points.
 Iowa City suffered their biggest  defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a  69-32 defeat at the hands of Cedar Falls. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest  points Iowa City has scored all season.
 Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Iowa City, they bumped their record down to 4-10 with that  defeat, which was their fifth straight  on the road.
 Liberty beat Iowa City 57-48  in their previous meeting  back in December of 2023. Will Liberty repeat their success,  or does  Iowa City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
