Omaha North has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. After both having extra time off, the Omaha North Vikings and the Omaha Central Eagles will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 10:15 a.m. on December 29th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Two weeks ago, Omaha North strolled past Lincoln Southwest with points to spare, taking the game 62-46.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Omaha North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mynor Strong, who scored 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Strong has scored at least 25% of Omaha North's points. Deandre' Harper was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Omaha Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Saturday. They walked away with a 74-65 victory over Lincoln. The win was nothing new for Omaha Central as they're now sitting on four straight.
Omaha Central can attribute much of their success to Devin Holmon, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, and Daleron Thomas, who scored 27 points along with six assists and four steals. That's the first time this season that Holmon scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ke'Von Newsome, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Omaha North's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Omaha Central, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Fans should be in for an exciting game on Friday as Omaha North and Omaha Central are among the highest scoring teams in the league right now. Omaha North hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 64.8 points per game. However, it's not like Omaha Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 65.5 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Omaha North couldn't quite finish off Omaha Central when the teams last played back in February and fell 57-55. Thankfully for Omaha North, Awit Mamer (who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
