Eldon extended their losing streak  to three  on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 11-9 in the process. They were two  runs away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Knob Noster Panthers. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in April of 2023.
Eldon got a good showing from  Braden Wrye, who   pitched 3.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. That one hit allowed gave  Wrye a new career-low.
 On the hitting side,  Devin Hardy was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 2-for-3 with two  stolen bases and two  runs.
As for Knob Noster, the  win was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-10. Five seems to be a good number for they as the  squad scooped up a  victory with the same number of  runs in their previous game.
On Knob Noster's side,  Cade Cantrell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  pitched three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Cantrell was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  run. That  stolen base marked the first that  he has  snagged this season.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Garrett Eames, who  went 2-for-4 with one  home run and two  runs.
 Eldon and Knob Noster should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage  in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Mustangs (ranked 114th) will meet Waynesville (ranked 305th)  at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile,  Knob Noster will  challenge  Cole Camp  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday with a big rank  advantage  (193 vs. 441).
