Baseball Recap: Concord Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Concord hadn't done well against Midland recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Pirates came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 16-12. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Uriah Fife was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. He has become a key player for Concord: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Kortlin Rogers was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Concord was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.

Concord's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9. As for Midland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.

Looking ahead, Concord will face off against Bradford at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Midland, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-4 victory against Heber Springs on the 11th.
