Nico Baalman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole five bases while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for Donahue Catholic: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Kadlec, who scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, The Village School of Naples entered their tilt with Donahue Catholic last Wednesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They never let the Shamrocks get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Knights have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Will Pryor made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, The Village School of Naples got a big performance out of Christian Horvath, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Anthony Vigil, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
The Village School of Naples hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Donahue Catholic struck out eight times.
The Village School of Naples' victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Donahue Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Donahue Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .557. However, it's not like The Village School of Naples struggles in that department as they've averaged .539. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
