Softball Recap: Perryville Wins Going Away Against Jessieville

Perryville won the last time they faced Jessieville and things went their way on Monday too. The Mustangs blew past the Lions 17-3. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Ainsley Tippen made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Tolley, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kendyl Griffin was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Perryville and bumps their season record up to 12-2. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs. As for Jessieville, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Coming up, Perryville will take on Baptist Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Jessieville, they will challenge Fountain Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
