The Garces Memorial Rams will square off against the Bakersfield Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Garces Memorial comes in on ten and Bakersfield Christian on three.
Garces Memorial's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Liberty. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 11, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Not much got past Jaiden Gutierrez, who gave up just four hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Liberty off the board. Gutierrez has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Garces Memorial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mikaeyla Salinas, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Bakersfield Christian came out on top against Independence on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Eagles blew past the Falcons 11-1. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly ten runs.
Bakersfield Christian got a massive performance out of Tia Nichols, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddison Misuraca, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Bakersfield Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Bakersfield Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-17-1. As for Garces Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 21-5.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Garces Memorial hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Bakersfield Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Garces Memorial might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Bakersfield Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2025.
