Mountain Lake/Comfrey has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Red Rock Central Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Lake/Comfrey knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Red Rock Central likes a good challenge.
Mountain Lake/Comfrey pushed their score all the way to 78 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 82-78 hit to the loss column at the hands of Russell-Tyler-Ruthton.
Meanwhile, Red Rock Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Southwest Minnesota Christian on the road and fell 78-43.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Isaac Simonson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Simonson is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Corey Arkell was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Mountain Lake/Comfrey's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-2. As for Red Rock Central, they dropped their record down to 10-14 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Mountain Lake/Comfrey beat Red Rock Central 63-53 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain Lake/Comfrey since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
