The Glynn Academy Terrors waltzed into their matchup on Friday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They strolled past Grovetown with points to spare, taking the game 59-40. For Glynn Academy, this counts as revenge for the 36-29 defeat the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Glynn Academy found their leader in underclassman Martin Davis, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Davis hasn't dropped below three steals for 11 straight games. Deoni Hacker was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jai Ruffin, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Ruffin hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Scott, who scored six points along with three blocks.
Glynn Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Grovetown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glynn Academy will challenge the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Effingham is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Grovetown, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Rebels at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. Effingham County is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
