Fort Bend Clements is 2-8 against Fort Bend Elkins since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Fort Bend Clements Rangers on the road again and play against the Fort Bend Elkins Knights at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Wednesday, Fort Bend Clements didn't have too much trouble with George Ranch on the road as they won 59-40. Given Fort Bend Clements' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while George Ranch is ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Divine Ugochukwu, who scored 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Mathews, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Elkins came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 58-54 W over George Ranch.
Charley Reado continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Todd Woods, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Fort Bend Clements' win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-0. As for Fort Bend Elkins, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Fort Bend Clements have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.3 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Fort Bend Elkins, though, as they've been averaging only 30.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Fort Bend Clements came up short against Fort Bend Elkins in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 46-38. Can Fort Bend Clements avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
