Baseball Game Preview: De La Salle Collegiate Pilots vs. St. Mary's Prep Eaglets

De La Salle Collegiate hasn't had much luck against St. Mary's Prep recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. De La Salle Collegiate will take on St. Mary's Prep at 4:00 p.m. De La Salle Collegiate is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

De La Salle Collegiate barely beat University of Detroit Jesuit the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. De La Salle Collegiate put the hurt on University of Detroit Jesuit with a sharp 10-1 victory on Saturday. While the Pilots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Dylan Luepke tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Pilarski, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. He also hit three doubles, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mason Stempin, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's Prep suffered their closest defeat since April 24, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Brother Rice by a score of 3-1. The Eaglets have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

De La Salle Collegiate pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average this season. As for St. Mary's Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
