Notre Dame put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Lafayette Christian Academy Knights 17-2. Considering the Pioneers have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bella Smith looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Keagan Valdetero was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ava Yates, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Notre Dame was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .609. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in eight consecutive matches.

Notre Dame's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Coming up, Notre Dame will take on Natchitoches Central in a tournament on Friday. Notre Dame's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Natchitoches Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, they will welcome Port Barre at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lafayette Christian Academy has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
