Tavares hasn't had much luck against Citrus recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tavares Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Citrus Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. Tavares knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Citrus likes a good challenge.
If Tavares beats Citrus with ten runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Tavares was the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over Umatilla on Thursday. Fans of Tavares have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Emersyn Lee was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned runs any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Nina Earl was a standout: she scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Aliyah Cantu-Lopez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Citrus posted their closest win since March 1, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Belleview 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hurricanes.
Kaylin Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Baylie Goodwin and Paisley Williamson did most of the damage at the plate: Goodwin went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Williamson scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaila Anderson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Tavares' win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Citrus, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
