The Unity/Seymour Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the North Greene Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Unity/Seymour has four straight victories, North Greene has 17 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Unity/Seymour at home against Pleasant Hill/Western as the squad secured a 41-6 victory. That's two games straight that Unity/Seymour has won by exactly 35 points.
Meanwhile, North Greene came up short against Beardstown on Friday and fell 38-26.
The losing side was boosted by Logan Tepen, who threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Garret Hazelwonder, who picked up 129 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Unity/Seymour's victory bumped their season record to 5-3 while North Greene's loss dropped theirs to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Unity/Seymour against North Greene in their previous meeting back in August of 2022 as the team secured a 48-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Unity/Seymour since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
